Project Information

  • Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade Project

    BACKGROUND:

The utility service upgrades performed under this project provide the University with more capacity and reliability on their electrical infrastructure as well as reducing the risk of unplanned power outages due to failure of old equipment. This work also provides the UCR Facilities Services team with additional flexibility to switch existing loads onto new more reliable circuits to minimize a loss of power in the event of planned or unplanned outages.

In addition to the contract scope performed under this project, Berg Electric has worked with FS to identify some of the existing circuits that are at high risk of failure and provide either a temporary or permanent infrastructure repair to reduce the risk of an unplanned outage to UCR and its tenants.

    PURPOSE:

As the campus continues to move forward with an extensive upgrade to our electrical infrastructure, creating more reliability, reducing unplanned outages, as providing flexibility for future growth we will have the following service interruptions. The schedule below is to provide the campus community a tentative schedule of the upcoming shutdowns, which will impact various buildings on campus. The dates listed on the calendar and are proposed by the contractor and Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) and addresses the scope and safety considerations required during a time when power usage is at its lowest and campus teaching and business operations are closed.

All dates are subject to change based on the availability of the contractor and campus feedback. Scheduling changes will be communicated to the campus through the Facilities Services shutdown notification email process. The final dates and details of the shutdowns will also be listed below once they are approved as planned.

  • Pierce Hall Project

  • School of Medicine Education Building II

The University of California Riverside proposes to construct the School of Medicine (SOM) Education Building II, a new facility of approximately 57,000 assignable square feet (ASF) that will directly support the academic and programmatic mission of the UCR School of Medicine by providing adequate space for existing needs, as well as allowing for future expansion of the class size (up to 125 students per class).
