Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS)

Aerial view of the campus

In partnership with Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) and Southern California Edison (SCE), it may be necessary to perform Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) or planned power shutoffs when high winds and dry weather conditions combined with fire danger are forecasted.

Facilities Services (FS) staff are in frequent contact with Riverside Public Utilities (RPU), which has confirmed that there are currently no anticipated shutdowns at or near the UCR campus. However, we could still lose power if a fire in other areas of California significantly impacts transmission lines serving the southern part of California.

If for any reason we learn of planned power shutdowns that were to disrupt university operations, we will notify the campus as soon as possible.
