In January, Facilities Services (FS) and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) collaborated to launch a campus COVID cleaning program, to provide volunteer FS staff with elevated knowledge and expertise on cleaning campus locations during the pandemic.

Made up of 15 volunteers from various departments within FS, staff members attended decontamination trainings to learn how to properly wear PPE including disposable coveralls and shoe covers, and use specialized equipment such as electrostatic sprayers. The introduction of these new protocols will help Facilities Services continue to expand their in-house cleaning services to campus locations that have potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

The final training for the volunteer cleaning team will be held mid-February and the teams will begin cleaning at the end of February.
